The Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists (PAN) is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1978. It is an organization consisting of individuals and coin clubs from throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PAN is the only statewide organization where a member can share knowledge of coins, tokens, and related items with fellow Pennsylvania collectors. An annual banquet is held every year at the fall PAN convention. Past banquet speakers have included Dr. Richard Doty of the Smithsonian, U.S. Mint Engravers Frank Gasparro and John Mercanti, and controversial "Money Artist" J.S.G. Boggs The PAN Banquet is where exhibit awards are presented, as well as special awards given to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the hobby.
Pennsylvania Quarter Design |
| The 50 States Quarters Program provided for five states to be featured
each year on the reverse side of the circulating Washington quarter, beginning
in 1999. States will be honored in the order in which they entered the
union. Thus Delaware's coin appeared first, followed by Pennsylvania.
The design chosen by Governor Tom Ridge is shown here.
PAN Chairman of the Board Don Carlucci was PAN's representative on the selection committee. Click here for Don's exhibit entitled The Story of the Pennsylvania Commemorative Quarter. For more information on the entire program see: 50 STATES QUARTERS PROGRAM |
